Martin White is Managing Director of Intranet Focus Ltd, which he established in 1999. He has over 30 years experience in information management, publishing and consulting roles and has held senior management positions in Business International, Reed Publishing, International Data Corporation, Logica, Romtec and TFPL.
Martin consults on the design and management of intranets and extranets, the specification and selection of content management systems, and business development strategies for companies providing electronic information services to both the business and scientific sectors. In the last year he has advised organisations in the UK, the USA and Europe on intranet deployment strategies, including the Bank for International Settlements (Basel), the International Monetary Fund (Washington) the International Labour Organisation (Geneva), and the Environment Agency, Sport England and the National Farmers Union in the UK. Martin has presented workshops on a range of intranet management topics in the USA, Canada, Europe, South Africa and Australia, and has given workshops on communities of practice in the UK, Australia and the USA.
Martin is a Fellow
of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals.
He is a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal
of Information Management and writes a monthly column on intranet
management issues for the US magazine EContent for which he is
a Contributing Editor. He was Chairman of the Online Information
2002 conference, and a Visiting Professor at the Department of
Information Studies, University of Sheffield. He has a degree
in Chemistry from the University of Southampton.
