Marc Krellenstein

is Chief Technology Officer of Elsevier, the $3bn scientific, technical and medical publishing division of Reed Elsevier, where he is responsible for technology strategy, assessment and architecture and manages the Advanced Technology Group. He joined Elsevier in 2002 as Vice President for Search & Discovery Technology. Prior to Elsevier, Marc was Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Engineering of Northern Light Technology, where he was the founding technologist and was awarded a patent for document clustering and automatic classification. He has led other initiatives focused on full text search at Faxon Research Services, Ziff-Davis and Access Technology. Marc has been a member of search working groups for NISO, the W3C and the US Department of Education, and has made presentations on search at SIGIR, IEEE, NFAIS, the Internet Archive, the United Nations and the Karolinska Institute.
