Dr Peter Noerr has an extensive career in information retrieval. He is currently Chief Technology Officer of MuseGlobal, Inc, a five year old company specializing in metasearch and content technologies. Dr Noerr is the creator of its flagship Muse product line, which is widely used in a variety of industries worldwide.
Peter has a BSc from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, an MSc in computer science from the same institution, and a PhD from City University in London, in information science. He has specialized in information retrieval throughout his career and his PhD dissertation involved creating a faceted information retrieval system.
After completing his PhD, Peter became chief of the systems department at the British Library, and was responsible for the well regarded MERLIN retrieval system there. He subsequently worked as a consultant and produced and advised on automated systems to libraries and other organizations throughout the world. He was a co-founder of both Informatics Engineering, and IME, companies specializing in library automation. Both these companies were sold, in 1992 and 1996 respectively. Since that time, Dr Noerr has been leading the development of the Muse product line. He has authored many publications, and regularly participates in panels and presentations worldwide.
