Dr Stavros Macrakis joined Lycos in July 2004 as Director of Search Innovation. He lead Lycos's research into search user needs and the development of new search products and services until recently. Prior to joining Lycos, Stavros contributed to database and compiler technology and the application of artificial intelligence to mathematics. He also started and managed the Open Software Foundation's Grenoble research center, which specialized in microkernels.
