Dr David Ferrucci is a Research Staff Member and Senior Manager
at IBMs T.J. Watsons research center. He currently
manages the Semantic Analysis and Integration department which
is focused on technologies and architectures for mining unstructured
information for relevant knowledge and leveraging the results
in information processing solutions. His team includes world-class
NLP and Knowledge Representation researchers and software engineers.
Dr Ferrucci is the lead architect for IBMs Unstructured
Information Management Architecture (UIMA). This project spans
six of IBMs research labs and provides the foundation for
accelerating and integrating the Research divisions work
in search and text analytics to help bridge unstructured and structured
information. UIMA has become the standard platform for delivering
multi-modal analytics into IBM products and services.
Throughout Dr Ferruccis academic and professional career
he has focused on developing computer systems to help people discover,
represent, maintain, manage, access and consistently apply real-world
knowledge. Dr Ferrucci is published in the field of logic and
knowledge representation, architectures for natural language engineering
and automated question answering. His research interests center
on advanced technologies for representing, applying and describing
knowledge about logic and language.
