Ammy Vogtlander is currently the General Manager for Scirus,
Elsevier's free science-specific web search engine. She is responsible
for managing the team's day-to-day activities as well as developing
new concepts and market strategies.
Prior to joining the Scirus team Ammy worked as Senior Technology
Manager for ScienceDirect. Her work focussed on the design and
implementation of a new usage reporting system providing Elsevier
customers with insight into the behaviour of their users. Previous
to working at Elsevier, Ammy worked as a strategy consultant at
a Dutch firm, Boer & Croon, where she assisted clients in
developing internet strategies. Ammy started her career at AMS,
an American IT consultancy, where she served as a project manager
and senior architect working on the design and implementation
of large-scale billing and customer care systems for telecom operators.
Ammy holds a Masters degree in Physics from Groningen University
in the Netherlands. She conducted her final research in the field
of pattern recognition. She is excited to see many of the principles
of pattern recognition applied in today's search engine platforms.
