Gary manages at a team of eleven senior information specialists and information specialists including a science and health group that work with staff and students in the Schools of Biomedical & Health Sciences, Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing & Midwifery and Physical Sciences and Engineering. He also manages a small team that works with affiliated National Health Service Trusts in the south east London area, including King's College and Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospitals. Key roles of the team are subject-specific research and teaching support, print and electronic resource development , the delivery introductory and advanced information retrieval and management programmes and the promotion and marketing of internal and external information services. Gary is also chair of the UK eInformation Group (UKeiG) and a member of the JIBS User Group Management Committee that ensures that the views of e-information resource users in UK Higher Education and Further Education are communicated to database producers and information providers.

His interests/expertise include: Biomedical and health information; electronic information resource management, information literacy & training and developments in research support, (including open access)
