Dr Kallas studied chemistry at Heidelberg University. After
obtaining his doctorate he joined BASF´s Patent Department
in 1989. In 1990 he moved to the BASF Group Information Centre.
Currently, as a Senior Information Professional, he is responsible
for searches and delivery of patent legal status and patent equivalents
and for the internal delivery of patent specifications. In addition,
he is working in the fields of technology analyses, competitive
intelligence and knowledge management. In the course of his work
he has been involved with the impact of patent law on patent office
publications and with the ways and means by which patent information
is handled by commercial services.
He is chairman of the PDG Working Group IMPACT (Impact of patent
law on documentation) and the GPTO advisory group ARPAD (working
group patent application and documentation) and active in several
other national and international advisory and working groups within
WIPO, EPO, EIRMA, etc.
