Vin Caraher

Caraher, 45, was most recently Executive Vice President of Pharma/Chemistry Markets, where he lead a cross-organisation team to create and launch Thomson Pharma, the first integrated information portal for professionals focused on discovery, development, and the launch of drug therapies in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology markets.

Caraher started his career at Chase Manhattan Bank, holding positions in financial analysis and marketing. He later served as Marketing Director for the banking and business product lines at Warren, Gorham & Lamont (WG&L), producers of some of the most valued newsletters, journals and treatises in the legal, tax and accounting fields. Caraher joined ISIR in 1989, which was acquired by The Thomson Corporation in 1992. Having served in a number of senior positions, he was promoted to Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales & Marketing, where he lead the international sales force created to launch the Web of Science. In 2001, he was elevated to Executive Vice President of Academic, Government and Services, prior to the development and launch of ISI Web of Knowledge, he single resource that facilitates discovery by offering researchers seamless navigation to the highest-quality, multidisciplinary journal, patent, and Web content, evaluation tools, and bibliographic management products.
