Peter Steele graduated in chemistry and then studied information science. A period of more than 20 years working in industrial information departments included 16 years as head of Glaxo's intellectual property information unit based in London. Seven years as an independent IP consultant ended in 1998 when he joined Current Science Group in order to establish Current Patents Ltd, specialising in patent-based competitive intelligence for the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors. Publications include the weekly Current Patents Gazette, an annual review and reference book (Drug Patents 2001), and a retrospective database DOLPHIN, the database of all pharmaceutical inventions. Current Patents works closely with sister-company Current Drugs, and all publications are available as options in the latter's Investigational Drugs database (IDdb).
