Arnoud de Kemp was born in Utrecht, The Netherlands, and has been in scientific and professional publishing for over 30 years. He worked with Sijthoff, Mouton, Reidel (Kluwer Academic) and Swets & Zeitlinger in The Netherlands, before joining Springer-Verlag in Germany in 1984 as Director of Marketing.
In 1992 he was appointed Director, Corporate Development, responsible for the planning and marketing of electronic media and services as well as all research and development projects. As of 1998, Arnoud de Kemp was General Manager, Sales / Marketing & Corporate Development for all media at Springer-Verlag. His responsibilities also included the LINK Information Service. As of January 2001, he became Dep. Member of the Managing Board of Springer-Verlag.
Mr de Kemp is a past chairman of EUSIDIC. Since May 1990 he has been on the IEPRC Board of Directors (International Electronic Publishing Research Centre). From 1990 to 1996 he was President of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Dokumentation (DGD - German Society for Documentation and Information). He has been a member of the executive board of the International Association of STM Publishers since 1999. In May 2000 he was elected speaker of AKEP (Working Group Electronic Publishing) of the Börsenverein (German Publishers and Booksellers Association).
Arnoud de Kemp has given and written many papers in the areas of electronic publishing, information management and information technology. He is also a regular advisor for a number of scientific associations as well as the European Commission.
